Iran’s defense ministry called a loud explosion seen at a military plant in Isfahan the result of an "unsuccessful" drone attack, state media reported Sunday.

According to a statement from the deputy head of security for Isfahan Governorate to Fars News Agency, Mohammad Reza Jan-Nesari, an explosion occurred in "one of the military centers affiliated to the Ministry of Defense."

"One of (the drones) was hit by the air defense, and the other two were caught in defense traps and blew up. Fortunately, this unsuccessful attack did not cause any loss of life and caused minor damage to the workshop's roof,” state news agency IRNA reported.

Earlier, regime-controlled news agencies reported the loud blast and carried a video showing a flash of light at the plant that is said to be an ammunition factory for the armed forces and a video of emergency vehicles and fire trucks outside the plant.

The announcement comes amid tensions with Israel over Iran's nuclear program.

"The attack has not affected our installations and mission...and such blind measures will not have an impact on the continuation of the country's progress," the defense ministry statement said. The ministry said the attack took place at 10:30 p.m. local time.

The plant is 270 miles south of Tehran.

Eyewitness reports and videos show the actual explosions at the factory. On social media, some users say that the Isfahan factory was manufacturing warheads for the Shahed kamikaze drone that Iran is supplying Russia for attacks in Ukraine.

According to some reports on the ground in Isfahan, the air defenses, and the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) are on high alert.

Last summer, the Islamic Republic said it had arrested a sabotage team of Kurdish militants reportedly working for Israel who planned to blow up a "sensitive" defense industry center in Isfahan.

With the new Israeli government under Likud leader Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli officials have vowed to stop the ayatollahs and their efforts to support terrorism throughout the Middle East and prevent the regime from acquiring a nuclear weapon.
