Gold Star Families want answers from the Biden administration on its botched withdrawal from Afghanistan during which 13 military servicemembers lost their lives.

Appearing at a congressional forum in California arranged by Republican Rep. Darrell Issa on Monday, the families of some of the servicemembers who died during the evacuation had harsh words for the administration on its handling of the development.

"I want answers. I want the truth," Coral Briseno, mother of late Cpl. Humberto A. Sanchez, said, according to Fox 11. "How many more parents have to go through this nightmare if we don't do anything with this administration? We have to get to the bottom of this and find out the root of this failure."

In August of 2021, the Taliban successfully took over the country from the U.S.-backed Islamic Republic. Their victory marked an inglorious end to the 20-year American presence following the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

"Do what our son did: be a grown-a** man. Admit to your mistakes… learn from them so that this doesn't happen ever, ever again," said Darin Hoover, the father of late Sgt. Darin Taylor Hoover. "You all need to resign immediately. Our sons and daughters had more integrity in their little toes than every one of them combined."

Issa, for his part, vowed to highlight the issue and thanked the families of the deceased servicemembers for voicing their concerns.

"The testimony we heard today from Gold Star Families is just the beginning. To the families who came so far to share their stories: thank you. As a witness to your testimony, I will retell your stories and continue to work until every question you have is answered," he tweeted.
