Russia-Ukraine: Army, people ‘ready for deterrence’, Ukraine defense chief says

Despite the dire warnings from the White House and Pentagon over the growing number of Russian forces on Ukraine’s border and what is being billed as a pending invasion “any day,” Ukraine’s leaders are telling their people to “keep calm.”

  • Despite the dire warnings from the White House and Pentagon over the growing number of Russian forces on Ukraine’s border and what is being billed as a pending invasion "any day," Ukraine’s leaders are telling their people to "keep calm." 
  • Biden administration officials said that intelligence findings showed that the Kremlin had worked up an elaborate plot to fabricate an attack by Ukrainian forces that Russia could use as a pretext to take military action against its neighbor.
  • Rep. Michael McCaul, the top Republican on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, told reporters last week that an invasion seems more likely than not.
