The Israeli military has retaken control of certain occupied areas from Hamas but battles are still taking place, an Israeli spokesperson said on Monday.
Israel Defense Minister Yoav Gallant has "ordered a complete siege" on the Gaza Strip after the Hamas-directed attack that took place.
Local media outlets reported at least 800 have been killed in Israel as of Monday morning.
The Israeli Defense Forces reportedly had tens of thousands of troops around the Gaza Strip following the terrorist attack.
"There will be no electricity, no food, no fuel, everything is closed," Gallant said.
Israeli cities near the Gaza Strip that were affected during the attack included Kfar Aza, Nahal Oz, Sderot, Kibbutz Be'eri, Ofakim, Netiv Haasara, Kissufim, Kerem Shalom and others.
