On Thursday, the Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Charles Brown, told attendees at an event sponsored by the Defense Writers Group, that Israel has not received everything it has asked for to assist it in fighting the Hamas terrorist organization.
Brown explained to the gathering that despite the $3.8 billion in military aid sent to Jerusalem every year, "they've not received everything they've asked for," because "they've asked for stuff that we either don't have the capacity to provide or not willing to provide, not right now."
The general did not disclose what assistance the Biden administration refused to deliver.
A Pentagon spokesperson, Captain Jereal Dorsey, called Brown’s comments "a standard practice before providing military aid to any of our allies and partners," and added that the U.S. "continues to provide security assistance to our ally Israel as they defend themselves from Hamas."
Israel’s Defense Minister, Yoav Gallant, arrived in Washington this week for White House meetings on the status of the current war in Gaza. Reports have suggested that he made specific requests for various weapons systems that his military has not yet received.
The transfer of American military hardware and munitions to Israel has drawn sharp criticism from many leftist and Arab-American constituency groups in the Democratic party.
