An Israeli soldier was murdered in a ramming attack by an individual driving a fuel tanker truck in the West Bank on Wednesday.
The incident occurred while Sgt. Geri Gideon Hanghal was stationed in a guard post at the Givat Assaf junction in the Ramallah area.
Video footage from the location showed the commercial vehicle with Palestinian license plates exit an adjacent roadway and strike the 24-year-old at a high rate of speed.
Hanghal, a resident of Nof Hagalil, was pronounced dead at the scene by responding members of Israel’s Magen David Adom ambulance service.
The alleged assailant, identified as 58-year-old Hayil Dhaifallah, was shot after the incursion by nearby soldiers and an armed civilian. His current condition remains unclear.
