Federal law enforcement officials announced Wednesday that they charged a homeless individual from Florida for allegedly conspiring to detonate an explosive device outside of the New York Stock Exchange this week.
The suspect, identified as Harun Abdul-Malik Yener, was reportedly under investigation by the FBI after the organization received a tip in February indicating the 30-year-old was stockpiling bomb-making plans and components in his storage unit in Coral Springs.
The criminal complaint also claims Yener disclosed to undercover agents his desire to join domestic extremist groups, nationalistic anti-government networks, and the Islamic State in Iraq.
Court documents contend that the accused's motivation for the attack was to initiate a “reset” of the United States government.
