Forty-seven female prisoners in Iran’s Evin Prison are intending to stage a hunger strike during President Masoud Pezeshkian's Tuesday address at the United Nations, according to a report by Iran International.

The news outlet stated that the action will be in protest of the increase in executions by the Islamic Republic and will also call for the release of all political detainees held by the theocracy.

While the demonstration in Evin is underway, Iranian dissident groups are expected to be assembled outside the U.N.’s New York headquarters, asking officials to boycott Pezeshkian's commentary.

"Hosting Masoud Pezeshkian, a known affiliate of the IRGC, at the United Nations General Assembly grants unwarranted legitimacy to a regime responsible for systemic human rights violations over decades," several Iranian activist organizations said in a joint statement on Monday.

Pezeshkian's attendance at the 79th General Assembly meeting will be his first as the Islamic Republic’s president.
