The Israeli armed forces will broaden their operations against Hezbollah to target munitions shipments and production facilities in Syria, the chief IDF spokesperson told reporters on Thursday.
"We are identifying rockets and other weapons that Hezbollah is launching at Israeli territory that were manufactured in Syria," Adm. Daniel Hagari said in a news briefing. "We will attack every attempt to bring weapons from Syria to Hezbollah. And we will attack all infrastructure we identify in Syria whose purpose is to produce weapons for Hezbollah."
The warning follows reports earlier this month of a rise in Israeli airstrikes within Syria, following claims from Jerusalem that the Islamic Republic-backed militia has stepped up efforts to acquire more military materials in response to the IDF's September invasion of southern Lebanon.
Defense officials in the Jewish state have reported successful operations in recent days attacking Hezbollah’s facilities in Al Qusayr, as well as in the Damascus suburbs of Mazzeh and Qudsaya.
