Israel Will Use Elon Musk’s Starlink Internet Service if War with Hezbollah Disrupts Communications: Report

The financial newspaper The Calcalist reported on Tuesday that Israel is considering the use of the Starlink internet system to run the country’s communications in the event of power outages resulting from a potential war with Hezbollah.

The Israeli daily stated that in the event of substantial rocket bombardments from the Tehran-backed terrorist organization damaging the nation’s power-grid, Starlink’s 5,000 satellites could be used to ensure stable information transfer.

The internet provider, founded by American billionaire Elon Musk, has been used successfully in Ukraine after Russian attacks disabled much of the nation’s regular service.

In February, Israel’s Communications Minister, Shlomo Karhi, authorized its use in the Jewish state and Gaza.

The news comes as Defense Minister Yoav Gallant is in Washington discussing the increasing hostilities with Hezbollah and his government’s plans to remediate them.
