Hamas reportedly rejected a proposal from Israel for a two-month ceasefire that would involve the relocation of Hamas leadership to other countries and the release of all hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners.

Hamas insists that it will not release any hostages until Israel ends its battle in the Gaza Strip and withdraws from the area, according to a senior Egyptian official, The Associated Press reported.

Egypt and Qatar were attempting to develop a multistage proposal to appease both Israel and Hamas, the official also said.

Hamas says that time is running out to bring the approximately 110 people who remain hostage home alive after Hamas and other terrorists took more than 250 people captive and killed 1,200 others when invading Israel on Oct. 7, 2023.
