Soldiers from the Israeli Army's Nahal Brigade discovered an ISIS flag among the personal effects of a dead Hamas terrorist at the Sufa Kibbutz, according to the head of the IDF Spokesperson's Unit.
The spokesperson, Admiral Daniel Hagari, released a picture of the Islamist banner Thursday during his daily media updates of the current military situation between Israel and the Gaza based terror group.
Hagari also indicated that responding security forces found ISIS flags on the uniforms of the invaders, as well as printed materials from the Islamic State and al-Qaeda.
The agricultural community, close to the Gaza border, was attacked early Saturday.
At a joint press conference with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Thursday, Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu likened Hamas to ISIS describing that, "Hamas is ISIS and just as ISIS was crushed, so too will Hamas be crushed." Netanyahu then called on the international community to treat Hamas in the same manner that they have dealt with ISIS.
The IDF has estimated that the border incursion included as many as 3,500 Hamas members, and that approximately 1,500 of them were killed by Israeli defensive actions.
