Last week, the Chinese and Russian governments conducted a joint naval operation near U.S. territory, alerting United States defense officials and prompting a response from the Navy.
According to reports, the two anti-American regimes' operation contained 11 ships near Alaska's southwestern coast. Lawmakers gave a briefing on the naval operation detailing how the U.S. Navy responded by mobilizing several destroyers to guide the Chinese and Russian Ships from American waters.
Speaking to Fox News digital over the weekend, Alaskan Republican Senator Dan Sullivan described the action as "unprecedented."
"Whether you live in Alaska like I do or on the East Coast of the U.S., a very large surface action task force between our two main adversaries, probing very closely to U.S. shores is concerning," he told Fox News.
The Alaskan Senator added that the joint naval drill "solidifies this idea that we've entered a new era of authoritarian aggression led by the dictators in Beijing and Moscow who are increasingly aggressive."
The Senator said that mobilization of American forces was a considerable improvement compared to incidents last year where the U.S. Navy sent a single Coast Guard cutter after noticing a Chinese guided missile cruiser alongside other Chinese and Russian ships 90 miles north of the Aleutian Islands.
According to media outlets, the U.S. Navy sent several destroyers and P-8 Poseidon aircraft to shadow the Chinese and Russian ships away from the Alaskan coast. The ships were near the Aleutian Islands but did not enter U.S. territorial waters.
The Senator told Fox News that he would continue to press the U.S. government to "commit more Naval, Coast Guard, and Marine presence and assets in this part of America."
Following Russia's invasion of Ukraine last year, China and other anti-American regimes, including the Islamic Republic of Iran, have worked closely to defend Moscow from international sanctions, providing military arms and training to Russian forces in their conquest of Ukraine.
Despite international condemnation, China continues to assist Russia, allowing Moscow to obtain the funds necessary to keep the war-effort ongoing. In return, China has strengthened its military readiness against America, building up its navy, surveillance, and troop readiness for a potential invasion of Taiwan.
