Former President Donald Trump has managed to edge out a lead over President Biden if the two were have a White House rematch in 2024.
According to the latest poll taken in the latest The Messenger/HarrisX survey, Trump was able to garner the support of 46% of registered voters.
Biden was five points behind with 41% support while 13% said they were unsure.
Trump’s lead comes as Biden's approval rating president has sunk to only 40% while 56% expressed a negative view of his presidency.
In total, 69% of those polled said they felt the president should not run again. Another 56% said the same of Trump.
Trump is currently holding strong in the GOP primary, harboring 56% of the party's support for his nomination, compared to 14% who for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, whose support has been dwindling.
None of the other candidates such as former governors Nikki Haley or Chris Christie or Sen. Tim Scott or former Vice President Mike Pence earned double digit support among Republicans.
The survey's primary data is in line with other surveys showing Trump faring in the mid-50% range.
Still, national data, shows Trump with a more significant lead. A recent ABC News/Washington Post survey that showed him 10 points ahead.
According to RealClearPolitics Over average, Trump leads Biden by 1.6%.
