The U.S. military conducted a cyberattack on an Iranian intelligence ship operating near Djibouti earlier this month, according to a report by NBC.

Three sources told the news outlet that the vessel, the MV Behshad, was collecting targeting information for the Houthi rebels in Yemen. The intervention reportedly disrupted the ship’s ability to send a receive communications.

Since the start of the war in Gaza, the militant group has been launching attacks and undertaking hijacking attempts against commercial shipping in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. The organization has also fired missiles towards the Israeli city of Eilat.

Houthi officials have stated that their aggression will continue until Israel ceases its military operations against Hamas terrorists.

The intrusions on ocean-going commerce have complicated trade between Asia and Europe by forcing many transport companies to use the longer and more expensive route around Africa.

Spokespersons for the Defense Department and the National Security Council refused requests by NBC for comment.
