Twitter owner Elon Musk claimed on Monday that Apple had largely quit advertising on the platform and was threatening to drop the social media platform from the app store.

"Apple has mostly stopped advertising on Twitter. Do they hate free speech in America?" Musk wrote Monday on his platform. "Apple has also threatened to withhold Twitter from its App Store, but won't tell us why," he said in a second post.

Other posts Musk made on Monday include pointed criticism of Apple's alleged censorship practices. He also posted a poll to the platform asking users whether "Apple should publish all censorship actions it has taken that affect its customers."

The Tesla founder has often used Twitter polls to make business decisions, such as reinstating former President Donald Trump's account after users backed his return.

Following Musk's takeover of Twitter, the platform faced a reportedly sizeable drop in advertisers over concerns about his plan to curtail the platform's censorship of disfavored viewpoints and allow users greater flexibility to express their unmoderated opinions.

He has vocally criticized the previous management's practices and confirmed the platform disproportionately banned conservative-leaning accounts. Musk has since announced a "general amnesty" for banned accounts that did not break the law or engage in spam, which is scheduled to take effect this week.
