5 Takeaways from Special Counsel John Durham’s Investigation of the Russian Collusion Narrative

1. Alpha Bank allegations

According to reports, Durham alleges that former Hillary Clinton campaign lawyer, Michael Sussmann’s actions were deceitful because he told FBI officials that he did not have a client when he presented false evidence to the bureau that Donald Trump had a secret computer back channel at Alfar Bank in Russia to communicate with the Russian government. These allegations were made in October of 2016 when Hillary Clinton and her advisor Jake Sullivan, now the Biden administration’s national security advisor, discovered that computer scientists uncovered secret links between the Trump Organization and Alpha Bank in Moscow.

2. Sussmann’s Notes & Texts

Special Counsel John Durham last week was able to provide more information of Sussman’s alleged lie against the Trump administration. Durham offered handwritten notes of several senior FBI officials who recorded former Hillary Clinton campaign lawyer Michael Sussmannn stating that he was not acting on behalf of a client when he reported the scandal against then candidate Trump. According to John Durham, the communications by Michael Sussman demonstrates the evidence of his lie, revealing the political origins and true purpose of his work. Durham also pointed out that past House Intelligence Committee depositions taken by investigators give a completely different account where he stated that he approached the FBI on behalf of a client.

3. John Brennan’s Notes

In July 2016, Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Director John Brennan told then President Barack Obama about intelligence that Democrat candidate Hillary Clinton personally approved a plan from one of her foreign policy advisors to disparage then Republican candidate, Donald Trump by generating a scandal that claimed the Russian security services were interfering in the 2016 election. In 2020, John Brennan’s handwritten notes and CIA memo were declassified under President Trump’s Director of National Intelligence (DNI) John Ratcliffe, which were then transmitted to the House and Senate Intelligence Committees.

4. FBI & CIA corruption

Throughout the revelations from John Durham’s investigation into the Russian-collusion narrative, information on the conduct of the FBI and CIA has raised eyebrows from Americans. During the summer of 2016 election, the FBI officially opened the Crossfire Hurricane investigation into alleged Russian-Trump collusion to win the 2016 election. In the final months before the November election, Brennan sent notice to FBI Director James Comey and other government officials that candidate Hillary Clinton approved a plan to tie the Trump campaign to Russia to distract the public from her email scandal. In 2020, former senior FBI lawyer Kevin Clinesmith pleaded guilty to falsifying a document that was the basis for a surveillance warrant against Trump campaign official Carter Page.

5. Joint Venture

Special Counsel John Durham is arguing that the infamous Christopher Steele dossier and Sussmann’s actions were a “joint venture” meant to flood government agencies like the FBI with information to give the appearance that the Trump administration was conspiring with the Kremlin to win the 2016 election. The information that was given to the government was later proven to be false or flat out flawed. Durham has given some small indications that Sussmann and researchers working with the former Clinton lawyer had some reason to suspect that the Alpha Bank allegations were not true or not fully substantiated.
