The president of the board of a synagogue in Detroit, Michigan, Samantha Woll, age 40, was found dead outside her home early Saturday morning, police have confirmed.
Investigators found multiple stab wounds to her body and she was pronounced dead on the scene, according to The Detroit News.
There is currently an ongoing investigation, but as of now the motive is unknown according to the police.
Woll, who led the board of the Isaac Agree Downtown Synagogue since 2022, according to the Detroit Free Press, previously worked for Democratic Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin.
Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan took to X, formerly called Twitter, to express his condolences.
"I was devastated today to learn of the loss of one of Detroit’s great young leaders – Samantha Woll," Duggan wrote. "Just weeks ago, I shared a day of joy with Sam at the dedication of the newly renovated Downtown Synagogue. It was a project she successfully led with great pride and enthusiasm."
"Sam’s loss has left a huge hole in the Detroit community," he continued. "This entire city joins with her family and friends in mourning her tragic death."
