Biden Continues to Pressure Israel for Ceasefire, Calls Netanyahu’s Gaza Effort a ‘Mistake’

In a Tuesday interview with the Spanish language network Univision, President Joe Biden referred to Israel’s war against the Hamas terrorist organization as a “mistake” as he continued to press his demands for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

When asked by Enrique Acevedo if Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is properly prioritizing his country’s national interests, the President said, “I think what he’s doing is a mistake. I don’t agree with his approach.”

Biden maintained his criticism of the accidental killing of seven aid workers from the World Central Kitchen earlier this month by saying, "I think it's outrageous that those four, three vehicles were hit by drones and taken out on a highway."

White House officials have stated that it was this event that caused Biden to ask Israel to halt the fighting and focus on the delivery of humanitarian assistance in the coastal enclave.

Jerusalem has maintained that the incident was the result of a targeting error and that they have since removed two commanders involved in the matter.

The interview may have underscored the growing disconnect between the President and Netanyahu, as Biden is facing increasing pressure from leftist elements in his political party to end the conflict.

In addition to Democratic voters, whom Biden will have to answer to in November, many of his supporters in Congress have also been asking him to contain the Jewish state as they attempt to eliminate the terror group that was responsible for the October 7 massacre.
