The chief spokesperson for Yemen’s Houthi rebels, Mohammed Abdulsalam, told Al Jazeera on Sunday that there are now "no red lines" regarding the Islamist group’s future responses to a devastating Israeli airstrike on the port city of Hodeidah the previous day.

"The confrontation with the Zionist enemy will be open and without borders. We will not adhere to any rules of engagement with the Zionist enemy," Abdulsalam declared to the Qatar-based news outlet while insisting that the Jewish state "must expect our response at every moment."

The IDF’s operation against Hodeidah, in response to the Tehran-backed militant’s deadly Friday drone attack that targeted Tel Aviv, was reported to have destroyed infrastructure that assisted the Islamic Republic in supplying the Houthi’s with munitions to support their nine-month-long military campaign against Israel and the region's ocean-going transportation companies.

Abdulsalam made his remarks while Houthi commander Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi stated in a televised address responding to Saturday's incident that his organization welcomes direct engagement with Israel. The terror leader also mentioned that Jerusalem's decision to confront his movement would lead to increased escalation in their actions and the enhancement of their capabilities.
