On Saturday, the Iran regime hosted naval exercises in the Indian Ocean with warships from Russia and Oman.

State media in the Islamic Republic described the operation, named "IMEX 2024," as intended to improve collective security, multilateral cooperation, and maritime stability.

A spokesperson for the regime’s navy, Adm. Mostafa Tajeddini, said during an event in Bandar Abbas that “the participating vessels and units would enact different scenarios, including containing fire, carrying out search and rescue operations, and removing oil from the sea surface during the drill.”

The engagement follows Tehran’s participation in training maneuvers with China and Russia in the Gulf of Oman in March, which may suggest a strengthening of ties with adversarial powers to the United States.

Military representatives from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Thailand are reportedly observing the deployment.
