Russian aviation authorities suspended activities at five of the country’s airports on Thursday, citing safety concerns.

“To ensure the safety of flights of civil aircraft, temporary restrictions have been imposed on the operation of airports Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, Vnukovo, Zhukovsky, and Kaluga,” the Federal Air Transport Agency said in a statement on Telegram.

The affected facilities include all four of Moscow’s airports and Kaluga International Airport, located 120 miles southwest of the capital city.

While no specific cause was provided for the disruption, Russian media reported that arrivals and departures returned to their regular schedule after several hours.

Moscow's airports have previously been shut down due to Ukrainian drones maneuvering in the area.
