Authorities in Sri Lanka have arrested three people linked to alleged terrorist threats targeting American and Israeli tourists in the island nation.

The country’s Daily Mirror newspaper reported that the suspects are Sri Lankan nationals, with one potentially linked to militant groups in Iraq.

The apprehensions follow Wednesday’s announcement from the U.S. Embassy in Colombo, which advised Americans to evacuate several popular tourist destinations due to “credible information warning of an attack.”

Israel’s National Security Council backed the request, recommending its citizens refrain from actions which might disclose their nationality and consider exiting the country.

A police spokesperson told reporters that security around the Chabad House in Arugam Bay has been heightened due to recent indications suggesting it may be a target for a terror incident.
