Syria’s top general, Abdul Karim Mahmoud Ibrahim, recently visited top officials from the Iran regime to discuss regional issues without the knowledge of President Bashar Al-Assad, according to a Thursday report by Al-Hadath.
The Saudi Arabian news channel claimed that after the meetings, Ibrahim agreed to transfer munitions from the armed forces under his control to operatives in the Hezbollah terrorist organization.
In addition to the arms relinquishment, the report suggested that the general unilaterally gave Hezbollah permission to attack Israel from Syrian territory.
Tehran has aided the government in Damascus for many years, providing the dictatorship with material support and assistance from its Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
In April, the Jewish state eliminated several IRGC commanders during an attack on one of the Islamic Republic’s diplomatic buildings in Syria’s capital.
