U.S. personnel were injured in a Saturday night missile attack by Iranian-backed militants on the Al-Asad Airbase in Iraq, the Pentagon said.

The incident happened at about 6:30 p.m. local time. The attack included multiple ballistic missiles and rockets fired from western Iraq, according to a statement posted on social media by U.S. Central Command, according to CBS News.

“Most of the missiles” were intercepted, but “others impacted the base,” according to CENTCOM. There are multiple U.S. personnel being evaluated for traumatic brain injuries.

This is the 144th attack on U.S. troops based in Iraq and Syria since the start of the war on Oct. 7 when Hamas, the Iranian backed terrorist organization, attacked Israel, killing about 1,200 and taking 240 hostage.
