The Israeli Air Force carried out its fourth and most extensive strike against Houthi infrastructure in Yemen on Thursday, following an uptick in attacks on the Jewish state this month from the Islamic Republic-backed militia.
Israeli military officials reported the operation involved 25 aircraft targeting key sites such as Sana International Airport, the Hezyaz and Ras Kanatib power plants, and the ports of Al-Hudaydah, Ras Kanatib, and Salif.
“We are determined to cut off this terror arm of the Iranian axis of evil. We will persist in this until we complete the job,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a statement regarding the mission.
At the time of the incident, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the Director-General of the World Health Organization, was preparing to board a flight at Sana airport. He later confirmed via social media that the runway had been rendered inoperable due to the intervention.
A Houthi spokesperson responded to the incursion on Al Masirah TV, promising to react quickly and counter the "escalation with escalation." Meanwhile, Israeli media indicated the IDF had heightened its air defense readiness.
Since the beginning of the Gaza conflict in October 2023, the Houthis have launched over 200 missiles and 170 drones toward Israel, including a munition that exploded at a Tel Aviv playground last week.
