Israeli military authorities announced Thursday that the leadership of Hamas is attempting to manipulate Palestinian and international public opinion regarding their rule in Gaza.
Officials reported that documents discovered during recent operations in the coastal enclave indicate the terrorists may be manipulating polling outcomes from the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research to minimize any potential criticism of their governance amid the ongoing ten-month conflict with Israel.
The IDF described the captured materials as “part of a systematic process, the purpose of which is to disguise the collapse of the organization and the collapse of public support for it,” while noting that the “falsified results are in favor of the organization and its leaders.”
In one example, the report's authors referenced a sampling that claimed 52 percent of Palestinians approved of the terror group's leader Yahya Sinwar, whereas the actual PCPSR data showed just over 22 percent of respondents supported him.
