The Islamic Republic’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday, his first official trip to the Kingdom since taking office in August.
Araghchi met with his counterpart, Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, before attending an audience with the Saudi Prime Minister and de facto ruler, Mohammed bin Salman.
State media in Riyadh reported that the meetings were set to discuss efforts aimed at ending the Israeli military operations in Gaza and Lebanon.
Araghchi's visit to the regional power follows a statement made earlier this week by a representative of the Iranian regime to Reuters, cautioning neighboring governments against allowing Israel to use their airspace for military strikes targeting the theocracy.
Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic resumed diplomatic relations in March 2023 through an agreement facilitated with the help of China.
