Authorities in the Islamic Republic have moved the regime’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, to a secure location after the head of the Tehran-backed Hezbollah militia, Hassan Nasrallah, was killed during an Israeli airstrike in Beirut on Friday, according to a report by Reuters.
Two sources told the news outlet that the 85-year-old autocrat is currently in communication with Hezbollah officials and other Middle Eastern proxy groups while he resides in his undisclosed venue.
In separate statements released Saturday, Khamenei responded to Nasrallah’s elimination by declaring “the blood of the martyr shall not go unavenged,” while calling on Muslims in the region “to stand by the people of Lebanon and the proud Hezbollah with whatever means they have and assist them in confronting the wicked regime [of Israel].”
In addition to Nasrallah, the Deputy of Operations for the Iran regime’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Abbas Nilforoushan, was also confirmed as killed in the incident.
