Officials in Afghanistan announced that a suicide bomber carried out an attack on Monday, killing at least six people and injuring 13 others.
The incident took place in the southwestern Qala Bakhtiar section of the capital city Kabul by a perpetrator who had reportedly “concealed explosives on their body.”
A police spokesperson stated on X that all the victims were civilians and an investigation into the matter was proceeding.
No organization claimed responsibility for the blast, although the Islamic State has frequently targeted the country’s religious minorities through similar incursions directed at hospitals, mosques, residential areas, schools, sports clubs, and workplaces.
The terrorist group has also been participating in an ongoing anti-government insurgency in the South Asian nation since the ruling Taliban regime returned to power in 2021.
