Five members of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon were "slightly injured" when their convoy was targeted in a drone attack near the southern Lebanese municipality of Sidon.

The international organization stated that the incident on Thursday afternoon took place while they were transporting newly arrived personnel to their assignment locations.

The casualties received treatment from Red Cross medics at the scene of the incursion before continuing to their destination.

Three soldiers stationed at a Lebanese military checkpoint nearby were also reported to have been wounded in the explosion.

The detonation of the lingering munition comes as UNIFIL has been repeatedly urged by Israeli defense officials to temporarily vacate the areas where they operate, due to frequent clashes with the IDF’s efforts to counter the Islamic Republic-backed Hezbollah militia.
