According to a report by The Daily Caller, the State Department is funding a grant of $2,315 to support transgender makeup artists in Nepal. The grant, authorized by the State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, is aimed at providing “financial support to conduct English language classes to professional transgender women makeup entrepreneurs.”
The program reportedly started on April 16 and will end on May 31, with the aim of “increasing mutual understanding between the people of the United States and those of other countries through educational and cultural exchange.”
In addition, The Caller reported that the Biden administration offered a grant of $500,000 to teach English to Pakistani transgender youth, through professional development courses.
The report also noted that in March, the Biden administration declared that U.S. citizens now have the option to select the gender marker "X" on their passport applications. This move according to a White House release was intended to "expand access to accurate identification documents for transgender and non-binary Americans."
