On Wednesday, the United States and Great Britian announced that they are sanctioning two individuals for using an online news provider to raise money for the Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorist organizations.
The two governments allege that Mustafa Ayash, who founded the popular Arabic media site Gaza Now, began his illicit fundraising activities shortly after the October 7 massacre in southern Israel.
Gaza Now has over 300,000 followers on X and operates an encrypted presence on Telegram. According to a London official, the media company "promotes the Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorist groups."
The second target of the restrictions, Aozma Sultana, is alleged to have used two private firms that he controls to assist Ayash in his efforts.
Sultana’s companies, Al-Qureshi Executives and Aakhirah Ltd, are also included in the action.
Both individuals and the affected businesses will face joint asset freezes and be forbidden from conducting commercial activities in the U.S. and U.K.
Theses sanctions represent the fourth time that the two nations have worked in collaboration to restrict the ability for Hamas to finance its current war against Israel.
