The explosive device that eliminated former Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh during an official visit to Tehran last week was planted by two members of the al-Mahdi unit of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps hours before it detonated, according to a report by The Jewish Chronicle.
The news outlet stated that security cameras show the two assassins entering the room that the terrorist leader was expected to sleep in at 4:23 p.m. local time, some nine hours before the incident.
After the remotely detonated bomb was fastened to the bottom of Haniyeh’s bed, the two uniformed individuals were reportedly transported out of the country by members of Israel’s intelligence services to an unnamed location in northern Europe.
The Chronicle claimed that both confederates were each paid a six-figure cash sum to partake in the assignment.
Previous reports have claimed that the lethal instrument was placed by Israeli agents at the blast site two months prior to the explosion.
