Security forces in Iraq announced on Thursday that they have arrested five individuals in connection with a missile attack earlier this week on a military base that injured four U.S. personnel and a civilian contractor.

The Monday incident, when a pair of Katyusha rockets landed in the perimeter of al-Asad Airbase, has been attributed to a Tehran-backed militia operating in the area.

Pentagon spokesperson Sabrina Singh told reporters on Thursday that three of the five casualties required evacuation to the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany.

The bombardment was the second time the facility had been targeted in the past three weeks.

The incursion came as the Middle East is bracing for possible reprisal actions from the Islamic Republic over last month’s assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the leader of the Hamas terrorist organization.
