Authorities in Israel announced Thursday that they arrested a student from east Jerusalem earlier this month for allegedly attempting to enlist several of his classmates into the Islamic State.
An investigation was launched by police in July, when the 16-year-old was suspected of spreading ISIS propaganda online, and while attending school in Beit Hanina.
A search of the young man’s electronic devices reportedly contained videos of terrorist attacks, files describing effective sabotage methods, instructions on making explosive materials, and content related to Sharia interpretations on killing civilians.
Officials allege that witnesses told them that the individual expressed a desire to move to Iraq and become a martyr in an ISIS militia.
