On Wednesday, the United States Central Intelligence Agency posted updated procedures on how to send secret information to the organization in Farsi, Korean, and Mandarin.
The process was explained on the CIA public website and in postings on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Telegram, YouTube, and Dark Web accounts.
“People are trying to reach out to us from around the world, and we are offering them instructions for how to do that safely,” a statement on the changes read. “Our efforts on this front have been successful in Russia, and we want to make sure individuals in other authoritarian regimes know that we’re open for business.”
One of the recommendations in the news release is for candidates to utilize non-domestic virtual private networks for their communications, as numerous adversarial countries to the U.S. monitor their citizens online.
Potential informants were also warned not to apply with their regular identities or provide contact details that could reveal their locations.
