Kremlin officials announced on Monday that North Korea’s Foreign Minister, Choe Son Hui, is traveling to Moscow for an official visit, marking her second trip to Russia in six weeks.
Russia’s Ambassador to North Korea, Alexander Matsegora, stated Choe’s diplomatic engagement is "taking place within the framework of a strategic dialogue—following an agreement to enhance ties reached by the leaders of our countries during the June 2024 summit," in reference to the recent defense cooperation treaty signed by both governments.
The minister’s departure occurred just hours after the U.S. and NATO confirmed Pyongyang had sent at least 10,000 combat personnel to support Russia in its war against Ukraine, with some individuals reportedly already stationed in the Kursk battlefield.
The North Korean regime has also faced allegations of supplying the Russian armed forces with as much as $5.5 billion worth of munitions and military materials to aid its 31-month-long invasion against the Ukrainians.
