Law enforcement officials in France are asking the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation for assistance with a rail sabotage incident that occurred shortly before the Opening Ceremonies of the Paris Summer Olympics, according to a report by Reuters.

Two sources told the news outlet that U.S. investigators were contacted after various media organizations received a grievance-filled email that French authorities believe may have been sent by the perpetrators.

The communication was delivered from riseup.net, a domain name associated with a Seattle-based anti-capitalist group, and was signed by ‘an unexpected delegation.’

The request comes as no suspects have been identified in the July 26 infrastructure attack that targeted four high-speed train lines serving the Paris area. The arson-related damage caused travel delays for many spectators who were planning to attend the inauguration of the international event.

Local police previously revealed that they think leftist or environmental activists are responsible for the disruption, and they have not ruled out the possible participation of foreign actors.
