The Israeli military deployed an additional combat division into Lebanon on Sunday night, reinforcing the two already operating against Hezbollah positions in the southern part of the country.
The 91st Division, known as the Northern Command’s Galilee Formation, joined the 36th and 98th Divisions, which are reportedly maneuvering close to the Lebanese towns of Udaissa, Kafr Kila, and Bint Jubayl.
The supplementary units will support Operation Northern Arrow, an IDF initiative aimed at neutralizing the Tehran-backed militia that has been indiscriminately launching drones, missiles, and rockets at communities in northern Israel since the onset of the October war in Gaza.
Although Jerusalem does not release personnel numbers, The Times of Israel estimated the Jewish state’s total troop strength north of Israel’s border is “now likely over 10,000.”
Launched on September 30, the mission was described by IDF officials as a “limited, localized, and targeted” incursion to bring security to the area and enable 60,000 displaced residents to return to their homes.
