A tragic incident unfolded in the volatile West Bank town of Huwara as a Palestinian terrorist carried out an attack, resulting in the death of a father and his son from Ashdod.
Israeli media is reporting that the assailant approached the victims while they were at a car wash and fatally shot them at close range. Despite the efforts of emergency services, the victims, identified as 60-year-old Shay Silas Nigreker and his 28-year-old son Aviad Nir, could not be saved.
The Times of Israel reported that the Israel Defense Forces swiftly initiated a manhunt for the perpetrator, taking measures such as road closures in the vicinity.
While the victims were not local residents, media reports suggested that they had been in Huwara attending to personal errands for several hours prior to the incident.
Huwara has recently experienced multiple terror-related attacks, largely due to its location along a main road that lacks alternative routes for Israeli travelers.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a statement said of the attack, "I send my condolences to the family of the two victims, father and son, whose lives were cut short in such a cruel and criminal way over Shabbat."
Unsurprisingly, terrorist groups Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad commended the attack, hailing it as "heroic."
