An international frisbee tournament in Belgium was postponed after event organizers discovered antisemitic graffiti near one of the playing fields in De Pinte’s Sportspark Moerkensheide, according to a report from De Standaard.
The newspaper stated that the European Ultimate Junior Championships Under 17 competition, with two Israeli sides participating in it, had to be suspended after the words “boycott Israhell now” were discovered amid splashes of red paint on the side of a building at a hosting sports complex.
The location of the incident was reportedly where Israel’s delegation was moved to after officials in Ghent, the regular venue for the contest, determined that the Jewish athletes had to compete in a separate facility due to concerns about protests over the war in Gaza.
As a result of the altercation, the European Ultimate Federation released a statement announcing that the Israeli teams were prohibited from further involvement or attendance at the games because local municipal authorities felt that their presence created a safety risk.
