Pro-ISIS media call upon ‘lone wolves’ globally to avenge losses in Mosul

Pro-ISIS media has published a magazine calling upon jihadis in Europe and the United States to avenge Islamic State losses in Mosul by carrying out so-called ‘lone-wolf’ attacks around the world. In the second issue of an English language magazine entitled “Nashir – Now fight has come,” the writers appeal to Muslims around the world, telling them of the ‘privilege’ they have living “among our enemies who live peacefully in their countries.” The plea further guilts and empowers followers, adding that, “every soldier fights on the Caliphate land wishes to be in your place. We can cut the tail of the snake but it will sooner grow again. But you have its head.” Another article states, “Brave Mosul is bleeding. You should stop its bleeding by carrying out exhaustion operations of the Enemy’s power and blood…cut their heads by your knives, let us hear your guns blasting their heads.” An essay entitled, “O thee whom Al – Adnani called thee wolves” invokes the message of former ISIS commander Abu Mohammad al-Adnani who emphasized the importance of local jihad, famously instructing jihadis that “if the tyrants have shut the doors of hijra [immigration to ISIS territories] in your face, then open the gate of jihad in their faces and make them regret their action.” Jihadis are persuaded not to wait to see the outcome of the battle for Mosul, but rather launch attacks on coalition countries by any means possible. Adnani, a chief propagandist for the Islamic State, died in a coalition airstrike in August, but his message has become a cornerstone for jihadis to channel their militancy towards targets back home in the West. wecall The final page offers an insight into the creators and disseminators of the magazine, stating that the publication is published in three languages—Arabic, English and French, and claim a readership across the Middle East, Africa America and Australia. Several affiliations of the pro-ISIS Nashir Media Foundation such as the Nashir Political Service, have become active online in recent months, particularly on the encrypted messenger app Telegram. New private channels appear almost daily, quickly mushrooming to hundreds if not thousands of followers before being deleted by Telegram staff. Many of the posts defend the Islamic State’s actions and offer both political and fundamental Islamic arguments for the existence of the Islamic State’s Caliphate.
