Ismail Haniyeh, the leader of the Hamas terrorist organization, held a meeting with Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in Tehran, according to reports by Iranian state media on Sunday.

There was no confirmation of the exact day and time of the encounter, but a Hamas spokesperson said that the two leaders spoke "in recent days."

Local media reports stated that Haniyah, "briefed Khamenei on the latest developments in the Gaza Strip and the crimes of the Zionist regime in Gaza, as well as the developments in the West Bank."

While neither two attendees released any formal statements about the topic of discussions, the Tasnim News Agency reported that Khamenei "emphasized Tehran's consistent policy of supporting the Palestinian resistance forces against the Zionist occupiers."

Although Iran has provided material support for Hamas in the past, the current regime has denied having anything to do with the Oct. 7 attack on southern Israel that preceded the current military situation in Gaza.
