The IDF announced on Tuesday that members of the Israeli Army, Shin Bet security agency, and Border Police conducted a successful anti-terrorism operation against Hamas infrastructure in the West Bank governorate of Tulkarm.

The overnight effort against two headquarters of the Gaza-based terror group reportedly resulted in the arrest of 15 wanted individuals and the confiscation of various weapons and explosives.

The mission participants also stated that they had deactivated dozens of improvised explosive devices that were deployed along the roads of the Nur a-Shams neighborhood. The response came after two Israeli soldiers were killed and 17 injured by similar road-deployed mines in separate incidents within the last two weeks.

The Jewish state has been maintaining a military presence in the area as it continues its maneuvers in Gaza and along the country’s northern border with Lebanon. This staging has at times encountered difficulties because of the ability for militants to smuggle combat materials through the area’s porous boundary with Jordan.
