On Thursday, Israel’s foreign ministry summoned the ambassadors of Ireland, Norway, and Spain for an admonishment over their decision to recognize a Palestinian state next week.

Per Egil Selvaag of Norway, Ana Sálomon Pérez of Spain, and Sonya McGuinness of Ireland were shown a graphic video of the kidnapping and abuse of five female IDF soldiers at the Nahal Oz military base on October 7, before the envoys were reportedly censured by ministry officials.

Israel’s Foreign Minister, Israel Katz, was on a trip to France during the meeting but had previously stated that watching the abduction would “underscore to them what a twisted decision their governments made.”

Ynet News reported that the Spanish representative described the footage as “shocking.”

Jerusalem has maintained that any recognition of a Palestinian state without a negotiated settlement with Ramallah would serve as a reward for the actions of Hamas terrorists during their October rampage.
