Emergency service officials in Israel announced on Tuesday that the more than one dozen wildfires that have been burning in the northern part of the country since Sunday night are mostly under control.

More than 30 firefighting crews have been working overnight with the assistance of military reservists to extinguish the blazes, as major roads in the region remain closed to civilian traffic.

Progress was reported in Katzrin, Keren Naftali, Kibbutz Kfar Giladi, Kiryat Shmona, Mount Adir, and other locations in the Galilee and Golan Heights.

A large fire near Amiad was reported to have destroyed almost 1,000 acres, and another in the Yehudiya Forest Nature Reserve was said to have consumed 2,500 acres.

Israel’s Ziv Medical Center said on Tuesday that they had treated 11 people for smoke inhalation injuries.

The widespread inferno, started by a combination of hot weather and Hezbollah rocket attacks, comes as the Tehran-backed terrorist organization has been waging intense warfare in the region since the start of the October war in Gaza.
