On Tuesday, Reza Pahlavi, the son of the last shah of Iran, visited the Dee family at their home in Efrat to offer his condolences after the deaths of sisters Maia and Rina and their mother Lucy in a terror shooting on April 7. During the visit, family member Rabbi Leo Dee expressed his gratitude to Pahlavi for his support. Pahlavi and his wife Yasmine signed a book of Psalms for the family.
"I believe that we can create good in a world when you create meetings and speaking opportunities," Pahlavi told Dee. "I wanted to come because you cannot stay indifferent in the face of the tragedy that was thrust on your family," he further added.
Rabbi Dee also shared his hopes for the reinstatement of the Iranian royal family and expressed his desire to visit Pahlavi in his palace in Tehran soon. Pahlavi's wife, Yasmine, responded with a call for freedom and prayer.
Lucy Dee, and her daughters were killed when Palestinian terrorists opened fire on their car while driving through the northern Jordan Valley. The daughters were pronounced dead at the scene, and Lucy passed away three days later at a nearby hospital.
On Monday evening Pahlavi attended the official ceremony at Yad Vashem in Jerusalem to mark the start of Holocaust Remembrance Day, where he also met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
