The rogue Islamic regime in Iran has pushed itself, and its atrocities, into the headlines once again, this time for flogging a beautiful woman 74 times, leaving her injured, solely because she wouldn't cover her hair and neck as men in the repressive government demanded.
The government claimed Roya Heshmati, 33, was "encouraging permissiveness" with her appearance.
The abuse was condemned by the Women’s Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, and one activist group reported Heshmati described she was summoned to the government facility where sentences are delivered on January 3.
Her accounted noted the officer "in charge" threatened her with another criminal case for not wearing the head covering at the time.
"They opened the iron gate. The walls of the room were made of cement. There was a bed at the end of the small room with iron shackles welded to both sides. There was an iron device similar to the base of a large canvas with a place for handcuffs, with iron shackles worn-out in the middle of the room, and a small chair and table with whips on top, both behind the door. A medieval torture chamber," she wrote about the attack she endured.
She said, "The man took a black leather whip from the bunch of whips behind the door, wrapped it around his hand twice and came to the bed. The judge said: Don’t hit too hard. The man started hitting. My shoulders, my back, my hips, my thighs, my legs, then start over. I didn’t count the number of lashes."
Iran is one of few countries around the world that still violates standards set by the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights that specifically bans the use of degrading and inhumane punishments such as flogging.
A published report said Iran's courts claimed, "Her penalty of 74 strokes of the lash was carried out in accordance with the law and with Shariah."
More and more women have been defying the men in Iran's government who demand women follow a dress code, and whippings, while uncommon, have been increasing since protests against the repressive government began in 2022.
Those were triggered by the death then of Mahsa Amini, 22, who was arrested for her alleged breach of the Islamic dress code and died in custody.
