French prosecutors announced on Tuesday that three minors were arrested the previous day under the suspicion of raping a 12-year-old Jewish girl with antisemitic motivation in the Paris suburb of Courbevoie.
The suspects, aged between 12 and 14 years, were reportedly charged with aggravated rape, aggravated sexual assault, attempted extortion, invasion of privacy, and threat of death.
A law enforcement source told AFP that the victim said the incident happened when she was abducted from a local park and was allegedly forced "to have anal and vaginal penetration and fellatio,” while the perpetrators made “death threats and antisemitic remarks."
According to Le Parisien, one of the detainees was the girl’s former boyfriend, who told investigators that he acted out of anger because she had hidden her religious affiliation from him.
The newspaper also reported that one of the attackers had anti-Israel materials saved on his cellphone.
France, the country with the highest Jewish population in Europe, has been under increased alert since the October 7 rampage in southern Israel.
